5 Steps to Deactivate a Project in Standard Time®
When a job is done, deactivating the project prevents employees from accidentally logging time against it — while keeping every time log, task record, and expense exactly where it is. Here is the complete process, from opening the Projects page to closing the job on the scan station.

1
Open Home > Projects
From the Standard Time® Home page, click the Projects icon to open the Projects grid. This is the central list of all jobs — active, completed, and in-progress. Find the job you want to close out by scrolling or using the search field at the top of the grid. If your project list is long, use the Filter panel on the left to narrow it to the right client or folder before searching.

2
Click the Project Row to Open the Properties Panel
Click anywhere on the project row. The Properties panel slides open on the right side of the window, showing every field for that project — name, code, status, billing rate, folder, and more. You do not need to open a separate edit screen. All changes you make in the Properties panel take effect immediately — there is no save button.

3
Uncheck Active — Scanning Stops Immediately
In the Properties panel, locate the Active checkbox near the top and uncheck it. From that moment, scanning the project's work order barcode on the shop floor will produce no result — no timer starts, no prompt appears. Employees cannot accidentally log time to the job. All historical records remain fully intact and reportable; the project simply stops accepting new scan entries.

Set Folder to "Inactive" — Hides from Active Views
Still in the Properties panel, scroll to the Folder field and type Inactive (or select it from the dropdown if you have used it before). The project is immediately moved into that folder. The next time you filter the Projects page by any active client or job-type folder, this completed job will be invisible — it is tucked away in the Inactive folder and out of your daily view. To review it at any time, open the Filter panel and click the Inactive folder. Nothing is deleted.

Or Scan DEACTIVATEJOB from the Floor
If you are already on the shop floor and do not want to step away to a computer, you can skip steps 1–3 entirely. Scan your username barcode, scan the work order barcode to identify the job, then scan DEACTIVATEJOB. The project's Active property is set to false immediately — no admin login required. To reverse it at any time, use the same sequence with ACTIVATEJOB. For a complete list of special scan codes like these, see Things to Scan on the Shop Floor.
